Mitsubishi Pencil Co. back Edinburgh artist’s work

A talented Edinburgh illustrator’s art work will be showcased on an internationally recognised social media platform, after winning a design competition from Mitsubishi Pencil Co.

Evannave’s illustration will be exhibited on Mitsubishi Pencil Co.’s POSCA twitter page for the remainder of 2011, after the 24-year-old won the company’s POSCA paint marker pen competition.

The freelance illustrator beat off hundreds of competitors to win the accolade as well as bagging herself the choice of £50 worth of POSCA pens. Evannave chose black pens in a variety of brush tips to further enhance her work.

POSCA began its search for an artist’s work by calling for illustrations using the paint marker that were vibrant, colourful and original.

The freelance illustrator has been drawing for four years and her winning work was fun, contemporary and embraced the true nature of POSCA pens.

Evannave said: “I can’t believe I have won. I love drawing and designing, and for an international company to want to use my work is an incredible feeling.

“I love the coverage and depth of colour POSCA provides and the versatility of the markers. With the extensive range of pens I’ve won, I plan to create some striking line work in my illustrations.”

Stuart Barker, marketing manager at Mitsubishi Pencil Co. commented: “We received lots of entries from all over Europe and the standard of entries was very high.

“We were very impressed with the piece of work that Evannave created with POSCA pens and we are proud to showcase it on our twitter page. We hope that winning the accolade helps to give her the recognition she deserves.”

Many artists enjoy working with POSCA marker pens due to the countless applications they can be used for, their versatility and the fact that they can be used on practically any surface. Available in a wide range of ink colours and seven different tip widths, POSCA marker pens can be easily used to produce unique designs. With opaque paint and fade-resistant pigments POSCA consistently deliver dense and vibrant colours on a wide range of surfaces.
