A sales woman from Chester is celebrating after winning an exclusive annual award.
Claire Green (34), who works at Chester’s Volkswagen retailer, Dane, was presented with the silver prize in sales executive of the year for the 13 northern branches of Inchcape’s Volkswagen retailers.
Predominantly a male dominated industry, Claire finished second of the company’s 70 sales executives, having sold over 300 cars in 2010.
She said: “Many people perceive selling cars as a man’s job and presume they are the best person to talk to when buying a car.
“By winning this silver award I think I’ve proved that women who work in the motor industry are just as knowledgeable as men and offer a brilliant service.”
“Customer satisfaction is my main priority, as without customers you have no business.”
Chester’s Dane Volkswagen brand manager, Chris McCabe, said: “Claire clearly deserves this award, but overall it shows sales staff at Dane Volkswagen provide customers with a service they appreciate.
“In the current economic climate, it’s vital for businesses to ensure consumers are pleased with the service they receive.”
Claire concluded: “I know there are more men in the industry than women, but I would encourage any woman to work in the motor industry because it’s very rewarding when a customer drives away happy and you have helped advise them.”
