A kind hearted automotive manager will be downing tools for a heartfelt adventure to Mexico – after signing up to volunteer at an orphanage.
Emma-Jane Kisby won’t be travelling to a typical holiday destination, but visiting the stunning Yucatan peninsula of Merida, Mexico to teach underprivileged children the English language.
Among her duties, Emma-Jane will organise fun activities and visit the children of various children’s homes and communities, experiencing daily life through the eyes of the local people.
A marketing manager for Easy Tyre & Autocentres, HiQ’s largest franchise, Emma-Jane has become a figurehead for the company after raising thousands of pounds for their charity partner, Breast Cancer Care.
Emma-Jane said: “I’m really excited, if a little nervous, about the trip. I’ve always wanted to work on a project with children and experience a different way of life.
“I can’t wait to meet the children and I hope, in some way, I will be able to enrich their young lives with fun and laughter.
“It’s going to be emotional, but definitely worth it.”
Emma-Jane found the volunteering program through the site Original Volunteers who offer a worldwide range of programs from animal conservations to nursing and healthcare in over 18 countries.
