One of the world’s largest polymer companies has turned to Yale, and its authorised dealer Yale CZ Ltd, to manage its complete materials handling operation requirements in the Czech Republic.
Rehau is a premium worldwide brand for polymer-based innovations and systems selling to the building solutions, automotive and industrial sectors. It boasts an extensive European distribution network that supports 25 factories, three of which are based in the Czech Republic where the company has been manufacturing for over a decade.
Yale CZ was tasked with recommending a comprehensive materials handling supply and service solution to Rehau and paid particular importance to the diversity of materials that require transportation at the company’s largest facility in Čestlice.
The 9,000 square metre site includes both indoor and outdoor storage areas with a wide variety of products ranging from small, expensive components to large window profiles up to 6.5 metres in length as well as large plastic tubes in various lengths and dimensions.
The solution was a fleet of four, five tonne lifting capacity Yale Veracitor VX forklift trucks fitted with double pallet handling attachments to allow multiple pallets to be moved simultaneously. The introduction of the new fleet has already had a significant effect on the logistics operation on the site increasing operator efficiency and productivity.
Mr. Vladimir Marek, Rehau’s logistics manager, said: “The transportation of products between our three Czech facilities and the logistics requirements within each site can be quite complex. Many of the components and products we produce are very valuable so we needed to be sure we had chosen the very best possible materials handling solution.
“The Yale fleet has allowed us to make the process of loading and unloading of large pallets much more efficient and we have reduced the damage during transportation to a minimum.”
Ondrej Vondruška, representing Yale CZ Ltd, commented: “The biggest challenge in terms of specifying a suitable materials handling fleet was the size and dimensions of some of the larger loads but our solution was very well received by the customer.
“We took into account the unusual pallet configurations and specified telescopic fork attachments for several of the VX forklift trucks as well as extended fork tubes.”
Yale CZ assumed responsibility for all maintenance and servicing of the new fleet reducing downtime and cost of ownership of the fleet.
Mr. Vondruška concluded: “In a time of increasing pressure on companies to be more efficient and productive, we have been able to offer a solution that delivers benefits to the bottom line thanks to increased efficiency and productivity and reductions in stock damage.”
