Surfers and those passionate about the surface water sport will gather in Porthcawl this weekend, as the 2012 RipCurl GromSearch presented by POSCA comes to Bridgend.
The GromSearch is a contest for young surfers aged 16 and under to showcase their talent and compete to be crowned the best in Europe. Held from June to October and across four different countries, Porthcawl will be one of only two UK dates, making it the place to go for surfers from all over the United Kingdom.
As the main partner of the RipCurl GromSearch 2012, POSCA, a brand of the leading stationery manufacturer Mitsubishi Pencil Co., will be down on the beach and in the competition village, helping young surfers and spectators express themselves by decorating surfboards with its water-based paint markers.
A range of supervised activities will take place in the competition village, including games, and prize giveaways. Award-winning illustrator David Webb will also be in attendance to design a custom surfboard with POSCA, and offer his advice to any budding young artists.
The winning ‘grom’ will go through to the European Final in Portugal in October.
