A UK leading furniture company is celebrating its jubilee year by strengthening its senior management team, making two key appointments.
Cookes, now moving into its third generation of family ownership is appointing James Pike as Managing Director and Graham Cooke will move to the position of Chairman
Mr Cooke, whose father established the business in 1946, will ensure in his new role as chairman that the board of directors is effective in its tasks of setting and implementing the company’s direction and strategy.
Mr Pike, 34, from Four Oaks has held various positions within the family owned furniture company. Since joining the firm over nine years ago, James has worked closely with Graham to develop his knowledge of the family business.
Speaking about his new role, Mr Cooke said: “Cookes has been my life and I’m exceptionally proud of what the company has achieved and I now look forward to overseeing how the business will progress.
“I am so proud to be chairman of the Cookes family business. I’m extremely passionate about the company and will continue to put as much hard work in as possible.
Mr Pike added: “My new responsibilities will allow me to directly influence the company strategy to maintain profitable and sustainable growth. I hope to strengthen its fine reputation as a premier furniture retailer and maintain its involvement in the local community.”

Established in 1946 by Edward Cooke, Cookes Furniture has remained a family owned business and today the management team includes the founder’s three granddaughters, Michelle is the Merchandising Director, Vanessa Marketing Director and Jennifer is the Sales Director.
