Keen rugby players at St John the Baptist School in Woking look set to top the style league after being thrown a sponsorship lifeline by local retailer, Colbornes Volkswagen.
Colbornes Volkswagen in Guildford, based on Slyfield Green Industrial Estate, has donated cash to the school to help fund new rugby kit for players in Years 7 to 10.
Dan Newman, head of physical education at St John the Baptist School, is grateful to Colbornes Volkswagen for the donation which he said is crucially important, especially during the challenging economic climate.
He said: “The cash injection from Colbornes Volkswagen has been truly appreciated by rugby players and staff at the school and we are really grateful to everyone at the retailer for their support.
“The kit has already proved lucky as the Year 10 team recently beat St Peter’s School, Merrow 41-7. We’re hoping this winning streak continues so that we can make our sponsors proud!”
Neil Lines, Colbornes Volkswagen’s brand manager, continued: “We understand the importance of nurturing enthusiasm and talent which is why we are so pleased to be in a position to help out.
“We pride ourselves on supporting community initiatives wherever possible and we’ll watch with interest how the players progress this and over the coming seasons.”
