Chester is set to have a boost in jobs next summer when Inchcape relocates its Dane Volkswagen dealership to a larger state-of-the-art showroom on Sealand Road.
Based on the former Boots distribution warehouse, the new site will be transformed into a brand new Volkswagen retailer and aims to make life more comfortable for customers looking to buy a car.
The existing offices and part of the warehouse unit on the site will be demolished, and then the building will be extended, re-clad and fitted in-line with the latest Volkswagen corporate standards.
Covering over four acres the new site will be far bigger than the existing buildings on Sealand Road, with a 17 new car showroom, a large state of the art bodyshop, and a 23
bay service centre.
The car park will also be extended, allowing room for more than 100 used cars to be
displayed.
Chris McCabe, Dane Volkswagen’s brand manager, said: “We’ve invested in this new site
so that we can expand as a business – the brand new premises will allow us to feature more vehicles in the showroom which will ensure the experience for our customers is much more rewarding.
“The new site will also provide the local area with a key employer with the chance to work for a well-respected and prestigious brand. We look forward to the summer when we’ll be able to unveil our exciting new premises.”
Construction group Robertson has been appointed to carry out the development, and the work is set to be completed by summer 2013.
Robertson regional managing director, Andy McLeod, said: “We have successfully completed a number of projects for Inchcape in the north east of England and are looking
forward to successfully delivering a project for them in the north west.”
No decision has been made on what will happen with the old Volkswagen site.
