Home ownership turned from a dream into a reality

Persimmon Homes Thames Valley has seen a surge in interest from couples and young families, citing attractive purchasing schemes and sensible pricing as the reason for the uplift.

The housebuilder’s Trinity Manor development in Stotfold, near Letchworth, offers a range of two, three and four bedroom properties, with various schemes available including those tailored to first time buyers and as well as buyers looking to part exchange an existing property.

Sales director Elaine Stratford says the development is helping people who thought home ownership was out of their reach or were unable to make the move onto the next rung of the property ladder by making their move a reality.

Elaine comments: “We are seeing more and more customers attracted by the FirstBuy, NewBuy and part exchange schemes as they are enabling people to move into a brand new home that suits their circumstances and family’s needs.

“For example, the three bedroom Maddock property type, popular at Trinity Manor, is ideal for young families owning their home for the first time. It offers a flexible kitchen with separate dining area and separate living space. The master bedroom includes an ensuite and there are two further bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Marketing assistant Laura Makings and her partner David Willoughby, an IT consultant, moved into their first home at Trinity Manor using the First Buy scheme four months ago.

Laura explains: “We had previously been renting a two bedroom ground floor flat and had not thought about owning our own home until our daughter was born. Our main desire was for more living space, a third bedroom and a garden that would be suitable for a small child but more than anything we felt we wanted to put down some roots.

“This had never seemed important to us before having a child but we love the fact that this home is our own and we can put our own stamp on it. The monthly repayments are comparable with the amount of rent we were paying so it’s much more affordable that we ever imagined. ”

Laura and David visited the showhome where sales advisor Linda Carre explained the options available to them including FirstBuy. Linda adds: “This scheme removes the hurdle of having to raise a large deposit to buy a new home. With a five per cent deposit, the buyer can secure a mortgage for 75 per cent of the property’s value and Persimmon and the Government will each lend an additional 10% creating an equity loan with no interest to pay for the first five years.

“I speak to many first time buyers who initially think it is impossible to get on to the property ladder, but FirstBuy is making many dreams become a reality.”

Concluding, Laura says: “We instantly fell in love with the area and thought that the houses at Trinity Manor were very pretty. Since moving in we have been very happy with our new home and love the location and family-friendly neighbourhood. We can’t recommend the FirstBuy scheme enough and encourage anyone looking to buy their first home to come and find out how easy it can be.”

The three bedroom Maddock at Trinity Manor is available from £170,000 with FirstBuy.
