Buying your first home can be quite a challenge at the best of times, but for one young couple moving in together for the first time, it was the least of their worries.
Because when Freya Sharpe and Danny Williams signed up with Charles Church for a three bed semi at Alltami Heath, Buckley, Freya was pregnant with their first child and Danny was about to start a five month contract working abroad!
And when the pair came to finally move – just a week before Freya’s due date – Flintshire had its worst snow in 45 years and the move had to be abandoned!
But all’s well that ends well, and Freya and Danny moved in during the last week of March. The house, a Charles Church Hanbury styled three bedroom property, was unpacked and decorated just in time for Finley’s arrival, a bouncing 7lb of baby boy.
Freya, aged 21, and 23-year-old Danny are thrilled with their new home, which they watched being built brick by brick – despite Danny being hundreds of miles away.
Freya said: “While Danny was away, I’d go up to the development to see the house being built. I used to take lots of photos and send them over to Danny so he could see the progress.”
It was last autumn that the pair decided to take their first step onto the property ladder. Freya was living with her mum and dad, and Danny was in rented accommodation.
“We wanted somewhere local, close to our family and friends, and we knew about the development at Alltami Heath. It was just what we were looking for.
“But Danny was due to go away with work in November, so before a brick had even been laid we were choosing kitchen doors, worktops, flooring and carpets. Charles Church were brilliant, especially the site manager Neil and sales advisor Sue who were both incredibly helpful.”
Danny returned to the UK just before they completed on the house, and they were all set to move – until the snow arrived.
“We had three feet of snow on the day we were due to move in,” added Freya. “It was the worst snow for 45 years and there was simply no way we could go ahead that day.”
But today the new family are all settled in, and adjusting to life in their new home as a three not a two!
