Award winning Midlands law firm Higgs & Sons saw over 250 professionals from across the region come together to take part in their popular annual football tournament.
The Victoria Ground, home of Bromsgrove Sporting FC, hosted the event which saw 28 teams of local professionals and businesses compete for the coveted trophy.
The eventual winners were Baldwins Accountants, who at the end of an eventful day beat Orbis Corporate Finance in a closely fought final. Last year’s winners, Ormerod Rutter defeated Baker Tilly to take third place. In total over £3,000 was raised for the firm’s designated charity for 2013, The Prince’s Trust.
Sonia Kaur, Corporate Partnership Manager from The Prince’s Trust commented, “The day was a fantastic success and we were lucky enough to miss any rain. We’re delighted that The Prince’s Trust has been able to benefit from such a great tournament. These vital funds will be used to support disadvantaged young people in the local community to find new opportunities in education, training or employment and change their lives for the better.”
Associate solicitor Richard Griffiths said that the event, which is now in its seventh year and the largest of its kind in the Midlands, was the most successful that the firm had ever run: “The Higgs football tournament has become well-regarded with professionals in the region and is growing year on year. I would personally like to thank everyone that took part in this year’s event and helped raise a considerable amount of money for such a worthwhile charity.”
Higgs & Sons works from two offices in the Black Country – Waterfront Business Park in Brierley Hill and Kingswinford. The firm employs over 200 people, which includes more than 100 specialist lawyers.
