A site manager with leading regional builder Persimmon Homes South Coast has scooped a top industry award for the second time.
Paul Vincent has been awarded an NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award for his work overseeing the company’s impressive Melbury Grange development in Shaftesbury.
And it is also the second time the development itself has received a Pride in the Job award.
The award recognises the highest standards of excellence, with National House-Building Council inspectors judging winners on meticulous and consistent attention to detail, quality of workmanship, excellent leadership, technical expertise and commitment to the highest health and safety standards.
Paul (54) has been in charge of the prestigious development – which will eventually feature up to 700 homes – since joining the company last November and has managed a team of between 40 and 99 workers.
“It is an award for the team as a whole as much as anything because I would not be able to do any of this without them. I try to treat people as I would like to be treated. The workers on site are my family basically and that’s the way I treat them.”
The married father of two said he was determined to scoop the award when he joined Persimmon because the site had already won one previously.
“Because the site had won the award before I joined Persimmon I felt I had to keep up the standards. I won one in 2010 so I knew what was needed and am delighted to have succeeded.”
Pete Watton, Regional Director for NHBC, the UK’s leading standards setter and warranty provider for new UK homes, said:
“Winning a Pride in the Job Quality Award is a major achievement for any site manager. Paul Vincent is at the top of the game, ensuring that the homes created are of the highest standards. Paul can be truly proud of this accolade.
“For over three decades, Pride in the Job has been a foundation of NHBC’s work to improve housing standards, encouraging best practice on site. The homes our Quality Award winners have built are without doubt among the best in the UK.”
