With their three daughters having flown the nest, Michael and Margaret Byers decided it was time to downsize.
A brand new development from Persimmon Homes – Church Meadows at Great Broughton – offered them the opportunity to do just that, and only half a mile from the house in which they had raised their family.
Six months later, the couple were followed to the Cockermouth development by their daughter Kathryn and her family who is delighted with her new home, and at being so close to mum and dad.
The happy families’ relocation began last year when Michael and Margaret bought a four bedroom Roseberry at Church Meadows, selling a similar property in Little Broughton.
Michael said: “With the girls all having left home we were looking to downsize, and although we have again gone for a four bedroom property, it is on a smaller scale than our previous house. We may have downsized but it is just right for us.”
Kathryn, a teacher, her husband Richard who works in a chemical plant, and their 18 month old son moved onto the development earlier this year, and used Persimmon’s Part Exchange scheme to secure the house they wanted – a Roseberry like her parents!
Kathryn said: “We’d seen mum and dad’s house and really liked it, I suppose you could say that we’d been able to road test it before-hand!
“I love the open plan living; our old property had a separate kitchen and dining room, but this is so much better for family living. And we’ve been able to use one of the bedrooms as a playroom for Harry which is fantastic!
“We hadn’t really thought about buying brand new until we saw my parent’s house. But we really liked the development, the house style and it’s so nice not having any work to do when you move!
“Persimmon Part Exchange made the whole moving process so simple; they gave us a decent price for our old house and it just felt like the scheme took away all the hassles and problems of moving.”
Church Meadows is a small development of 58 stunning houses in the rural village of Great Broughton. For more details on Persimmon’s Part Exchange schemes or the popular Help to Buy shared equity scheme, visit the website at www.persimmonhomes.com
