The UK’s leading housebuilder has strengthened its regional Yorkshire team with the appointment of a Deputy Managing Director.
Simon Usher has joined Persimmon Homes and its sister brand Charles Church at its York headquarters with a remit to strengthen its regional property portfolio and deliver quality affordable homes throughout North Yorkshire, East Ridings, York, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.
The 38-year old brings more than 14 years’ experience in the construction industry. Having initially qualified as a town planner Simon has held key land, managerial and director roles for consultancies and solicitors in addition to housebuilder Taylor Wimpey.
Simon has spent nine years working for Persimmon in other areas of the country before taking the reins of the Yorkshire office.
Speaking of his new role and challenges ahead, Simon said: “I am joining the Yorkshire team at a really exciting time. The housing industry is driving economic recovery and Persimmon has weathered the national downturn well, emerging as the leading housebuilder thanks to astute management and a clear vision for sustainable long-term growth.
“My responsibilities will focus on continued growth across the region which has already seen sites been launched in Selby, Retford, Easingwold and North Hykeham. Looking further ahead, we’ll also be commencing developments in Hornsea, Sherburn in Elmet and Harworth in 2014.
“We have a plan to invest in land and our strategy is to deliver well-designed properties which are effectively priced for the local market giving us the opportunity to increase our share in the competitive new homes market.
“I have many years with the Persimmon brand and I like the culture and business direction. I am looking forward bringing my experience to the enthusiastic and focused Yorkshire team.
Persimmon Homes Northern Division Chief Executive and PLC Executive Board Member, David Jenkinson said: “I would like to congratulate Simon on his appointment. He has established a strong track record of leadership and delivery across a number of our regions and we feel confident that Simon is well suited to develop Yorkshire’s success.”
