Demand for modern, purpose-built premises in a North Somerset town is so high that part of a new business quarter is now developed, sold or under offer bringing jobs and regeneration to the area.
Weston Business Quarter forms part of the innovative Junction 21 Enterprise Area (J21EA) in Weston-super-Mare. J21EA aims to bring 10,000 jobs to the region by 2026 whilst also capitalising on the highly-skilled workforce available in the area.
Developers Express Park Investments and Persimmon Homes Severn Valley have undertaken the infrastructure of the Weston Business Quarter over the course of the last year
Phil Wade spokesman for Express Park Investments, said: “Success really has followed success at Weston Business Quarter with the whole of Phase One now developed, sold or under offer.
“The initial Phase One of the site, which covers more than 10 acres, has really taken off due to the strong interest from occupiers for new buildings in Weston-super-Mare.”
As part of the infrastructure, a new roundabout has been created in the town off Locking Moor Road onto the new main road Beaufighter Road; named after the aircraft that used to take off from the Weston Airfield.
New enterprise hub, The Hive, the brainchild of North Somerset Enterprise Agency, has also been built providing 20,000sqft of work and business development space.
Pub chain group Marston’s is also due to open their new public house, The Landing Light. Marston’s is also intending to deliver a new hotel on the expansion site adjoining the new pub.
Mr Wade added: “These are really exciting times for Weston-super-Mare and it is fantastic to see the Weston Business Park taking shape providing incredible facilities for the town.
“A series of deals is in place for the remainder of Phase One, including 5.55acres under offer for the new North Somerset Enterprise and Technology College, which looks set to be a very impressive building with great architecture, design and landscaping being proposed.
“In addition, a new 100-place child care nursery is to be built on a 0.67acre site, complete with garden, which will provide an outstanding facility for the business park.
“Something that has been a scarcity in recent years is speculative development, and the final plot of Phase One is under offer for the development of small industrial business units; which will be available freehold and leasehold.
“Part of this development will be undertaken speculatively to provide much-needed small modern business units.”
Phase 2 of the Weston Business Quarter is now being released providing a further 10 acres of development.
