When two doting grandparents decided to downsize to be near their family they could not have imagined a three-year nightmare to sell their home – let alone an incredible house purchase that took only 17 days.
Anna and Jim Panayi decided to sell their traditional home in Surrey to move to Somerset to be near their daughter.
However, they stopped looking at houses in the area after the sale of their home dragged on and on. Now, they believe it was all meant to be as they ended up buying their dream home from a leading regional builder in just 17 days.
The couple, who are both retired, bought a new home at Jasmine Gardens, a delightful development being built by Persimmon Homes South West near the historic town of Wellington.
Anna, 58, said: “We had never been to Wellington before, but we came and visited the town, which is nearby, and felt very comfortable there. We really loved the house style at Jasmine Gardens, so we came back the next day, put an offer in, and it was accepted.
“It was a breeze to buy the house and we could not believe how straightforward it was. The sales staff were amazing and could not have been more helpful. We cannot believe that it took three years to sell our old house and just 17 days to buy this one. It is fantastic.”
Jim, 60, added: “We decided to look at the area because we heard about its great transport links. It is very easy to get to London and we travel back there frequently.
“We like Jasmine Gardens because it has a very traditional feel. We came from an Edwardian-style four-bed detached and this house felt very similar, which is great. The whole area has a really nice feel to it and is surrounded by lovely countryside.”
Jasmine Gardens offers a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes and enjoys a semi-rural location surrounded by unspoilt countryside. Situated in a valley between the stunning Blackdown Hills and the River Tone, Wellington is perfectly located for enjoying some of the best scenery the West Country has to offer.
The attractive town has retained a real sense of community, genuine rural charm and all the convenience of modern living with a wide variety of shops, cafes and a farmers’ market.
The town is near the M5 and nearby Taunton has high-speed trains direct to London Paddington.
Nina Hester, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes South West, said: “We always strive to make a move into one of our new homes as easy and stress-free as possible, and it is great that Mr and Mrs Panayi bought their home in just 17 days.
“Our sales advisors are highly-trained and are there to help people not only find their dream home, but to guide them through the process of buying it.”
Schemes such as the Government-backed Help to Buy are also available at Jasmine Gardens to help people buy a property. Under the scheme, buyers only need a 5% deposit along with a 75% mortgage. The rest is made up with a 20% equity loan, which is interest and repayment free for the first five years.
