Persimmon Homes has welcomed the decision by Barnsley Council’s planning committee, to grant permission for a housing development off Mitchells Way in the village of Wombwell.
The West Yorkshire housebuilder plans to invest in excess of £10 million in the construction of 220 new homes on a 13 acre site just 4.5 miles from Barnsley city centre.
Speaking of the new development, Wayne Gradwell, managing director at Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire, said: “We are currently building at two sites in Barnsley with another in Wath-Upon-Dearne and expect to launch a further development in Rotherham, later this year.
“So this new development in Wombwell is an integral part of our expansion programme to bring further new homes to the region.
“Our plans for the new Holly Bank site includes a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes to suit a range of buyers, from those looking to get on the property ladder for the first time to families seeking more space as they grow.”
Holly Bank is well placed for schools and local amenities and is in walking distance to Wombwell train station. With easy access to the M1, M18 and A1(M), the development is conveniently located for commuters to Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and beyond.
Construction at the site is scheduled to commence in December 2014 with the first properties expected to be occupied by the spring of 2015.
