Lucky pupils from Harleston Primary School left the classroom behind recently to visit the Persimmon Homes new development, The Poppies, as a practical addition to their topic work.
Twelve Year Two pupils from the nearby school were given the opportunity to see a working site as well as have a good look around the showhome. The children were able to try out for size Persimmon Homes hard hats and were given a fascinating tour by site manager Stacy Brett.
Miss Kate Sheperd, Year Two class teacher at the school, said: “’The staff at The Poppies were very welcoming. This development is just round the corner from the school so it was a fantastic opportunity for the children to experience first-hand a construction site close-up and safely.
“As a school we are very keen to build good links with the local community and experiences like this certainly enable us to offer a broad curriculum as well as to enhance the children’s learning and practical experiences.”
Delighted by the group’s enthusiasm, Head of Sales & Marketing for Persimmon Homes Anglia, Alison Page, said: “It was a pleasure to have the children visit us on our development. They were a credit to the school – and I think we spotted a few budding site managers among them!
“We hope they found the visit interesting and that it will be a valuable addition to their usual day to day schooling.”
The house builder is delighted that its relationship with the school has gone from strength to strength since they started building in Harleston two years ago.
“We have a close relationship with the school – not only does Persimmon support their annual educational trip to London, one of their former students actually came up with the name of the development here at The Poppies,” said Alison.
The Poppies is a stunning development of two, three and four bedroom houses and two and three bedroom bungalows. A number of buying incentives are available to customers with growing families, those looking to downsize or people looking for an investment opportunity including Help to Buy and Part Exchange.
