More than 50 jobs have been created in and around Isleworth as a leading building supplies, equipment and tool provider prepares to open the doors to its 19th branch in London.
Selco Builders Warehouse will officially open its latest branch on Worton Road, Isleworth on Monday, September 1.
It is a welcome and significant boost to the local community, with virtually all staff employed from the Isleworth area into a variety of jobs and with opportunities to progress their careers and skills in the future.
Chris Cunliffe, chief executive officer for Selco Builders Warehouse, said: “We are delighted that we are continuing to extend our branch network across London.
“We continue to adopt a policy of employing people from the branch’s local community. It ensures we have local and knowledgeable staff ready to assist our customers.
“We are delighted that we have been able to provide a significant boost to the Isleworth economy and provide career opportunities for the newly-recruited staff.
“Customers working in and around Isleworth will be able to enjoy the benefits of Selco’s three guarantees that underpin our entire offering – unrivalled availability with the widest range of products in stock, excellent customer service and straight trade pricing.”
The official opening of Selco’s 35th branch in the UK will take place on September 1, with former world darts champion Mark Webster the special celebrity guest.
The 2008 BDO World Champion will take on customers, staff and members of the public at Selco in a series of special darts challenges between 5pm and 7.30pm.
Mark Bootle, who is the branch manager at Isleworth, said: “It’s been an exciting period preparing for the opening and we have recruited a very strong team of staff from the local community.
“It should be a fantastic launch day with the additional bonus of having one of the best darts players in the world along to provide a real sporting challenge.”
Selco Builders Warehouse will also make a cheque donation to Macmillan Cancer Support, its nominated charity, at the official opening.
Selco has already raised over £100,000 for Macmillan and has pledged to generate an additional £50,000 for the charity this year.
The Isleworth branch will offer an extensive range of building materials, drainage, roofing, heating, plumbing and electrical products, a range of timber including a bespoke cutting service, doors and windows, ironmongery and fixings, decorating supplies, landscaping and fencing items as well as kitchen and bathroom showrooms plus Selco’s latest new initiative tool and plant hire.
As with all Selco branches, there will be an in-branch café, trade counter services, direct-to-site delivery options and van size parking spaces, all designed to make it easier for tradespeople to get onto the job as soon as possible.
