Crewe Volkswagen has extended its sponsorship of a leading Cheshire rugby union club into a second year.
The 1st XV sponsorship deal will help Sandbach Rugby Club, which prides itself on being strictly amateur, continue to develop youngsters within the 12 junior teams.
Crewe Volkswagen, based on Weston Road, is part of the family owned Swansway Group, and is the main sponsor of Sandbach Rugby Club.
Ben Gilbert, Crewe Volkswagen’s brand manager, said: “The local community is extremely important to us and, as Swansway Group is a family owned and run business, we’ve made it our company policy to support local sport teams where we can.
“We believe it’s important to show our support to local groups that serve our community and Sandbach Rugby Club is a prime example of this.
“We’re looking forward to watching the various teams progress throughout the forthcoming season and continue to provide an excellent sporting amenity for Cheshire youngsters.”
Sandbach has a rich history of producing top quality players and over the past 20 years the Mini/Junior section has produced a steady stream of top flight players. In the spring of 2012, Premiership side Sale Sharks featured no fewer than five former Sandbach players lads in a Premiership game against Wasps.
Sandbach 1st XV now play in the 5th tier of English rugby in national league 3. The mini/junior section has more than 400 young players and the touch rugby sessions have a growing following.
