A vehicle technician from Swansea is celebrating after completing an intensive training programme to become an expert in his field.
Alex Hendy, from Sinclair Van Centre Swansea, has recently gained, the highly acclaimed, master technician status after working his way through the Volkswagen Academy training programme.
The intensive training course culminated in a day of practical examinations which saw the 25 year old pass his qualification and become one of the youngest Volkswagen master technicians in the UK.
Alex joined Sinclair Van Centre Swansea in 2008 when he started his three-year Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle apprenticeship. Having successfully qualified, Alex then completed his service technician training after which he was nominated by managers for his master technician accreditation.
Commenting on passing the course, Alex said: “I’m delighted to have gained the qualification. The last few years have certainly been hard work but the master technician status is what I have been working towards and it feels great to know that I’ve reached the top.
“My final assessment included both customer-facing role plays as well as testing my practical skills and knowledge; this was tough but enjoyable. I now feel I have a much greater understanding of the business both from a technician’s and customers’ point of view.”
Clive Hopkins, head of business at Sinclair Van Centre, said: “Master technicians are an elite band of Volkswagen’s most talented and experienced technicians.
“Their knowledge is second-to-none and having Alex as part of our technical team is great news for customers and our business.”
He added: “Right from the start, Alex has shown great promise and enthusiasm. His hard work has certainly paid off and we are delighted that we could confidently progress his career so swiftly.”
