One of the directors of a leading motors business has been presented with the highest individual global award from car giant Volkswagen.
John Smyth, Director of the family owned and run Swansway Group which has Volkswagen sites in Crewe and Wrexham, has been awarded the Volkswagen Diamond Pin for services to the brand.
The Diamond Pin recognises outstanding contributions to Volkswagen for loyalty, franchise standards and customer service in support of the brand’s focus on customer care and only two people from Volkswagen UK are awarded the Diamond Pin every year. To be nominated, a recipient must be an existing Gold Pin award holder.
John Smyth, who is based at Swansway’s head office in Crewe, was presented with the prestigious award at a celebratory ceremony at the manufacturer’s global factory in Wolfsburg, Germany. The trip included a tour of the factory and a trip to Berlin on a special Volkswagen train. He was joined by his wife and award winners from all over the world, reflecting the global importance of the Diamond Pin award.
John said: “I’m thrilled to have been awarded a Diamond Pin, it’s a huge honour. The job brings its own rewards but we believe being surrounded by a dedicated and friendly team makes the job more enjoyable and ultimately more successful.”
Earlier this year the business scooped the title Best Retail Group in the Automotive Management Awards, and Swansway was named in The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For Top 100, for the fourth consecutive year. It was also recently awarded the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce Employer of the Year Award for the second year running, recognising the employer whose initiatives give their workforce support in their chosen career path as well as keeping the whole team motivated and engaged.
