An exciting new chapter in the motorcycling career of rising Manchester star Adam Gittings begins next weekend.
The 22-year-old from Hyde will be lining up for the opening event of his inaugural season in the Thundersport GB Series at Brands Hatch on March 6-8.
It is a step up in class for Gittings who won the Pre-Injection Championship at Preston & District Motorcylce Club at the Three Sisters circuit in Wigan last year and who will be sponsored by leading builders merchants Selco Builders Warehouse in 2015.
But the youngster is excited at the challenge ahead as he aims to continue the progression towards his eventual dream of securing a British Superbikes ride.
Gittings, who will represent The Gitt Racing team, said: “I’ve never ridden at Brands Hatch before so the whole team is really excited about going to race at one of the leading UK tracks.
“The Thundersport GB series is a new experience for all of us so the first weekend is going to be a big learning curve.
“It’s going to be very competitive but hopefully we can get off to a good start and get some top 20 finishes under our belt.”
Gittings prepared for his opening weekend with a testing event at Donnington Park where his Selco Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R was put through its paces.
He added: “The weather could have been better because we had torrential rain and the temperatures were freezing so it wasn’t ideal conditions.
“We managed to get a few laps in during the dry period and made some changes to the bike which helped us improve times.
“The weather became so bad that there were plenty of people falling off their bikes and we were determined not to be one of those so took it pretty steady.
“We got plenty out of it and are looking forward to continuing our development at Brands Hatch.”
Gittings will begin his first race weekend of the year with a free practice session on Friday before qualifying on Saturday morning with two races later that day and two more on Sunday.
