Leading oil blender Morris Lubricants has announced a partnership with one of the world’s elite motor sport series.
Morris Lubricants will be the official lubricant partner and supplier to the Drive DMACK Fiesta Trophy throughout the 2015 series, which takes place over five rounds of the FIA World Rally Championship starting in May in Portugal.
Drivers will fight for the huge prize of a full seven-round season in WRC 2 in 2016 – the biggest package on offer in world rallying.
Competitors will race in an all-new Ford Fiesta R2 powered by a 1.0 litre, turbocharged Ecoboost engine. The new machine, which last year’s Drive DMACK Fiesta Trophy champion Sander Pärn has helped develop over the winter, features a raft of modifications including revised transmission, new braking system, electronics, cooling system and revised suspension, to give the new Fiesta R2 even more adjustability.
Each Fiesta will use Morris Lubricants engine oil, transmission oil and brake fluid. Its fully synthetic lubricants deliver an extremely strong protective film to withstand severe shock loading, protect component integrity and ensure effective cooling even at peak racing temperatures on the tough world rally events.
Andrew Goddard, managing director at Morris Lubricants, said: “We are extremely proud to be the official lubricant partner of this excellent championship for a second consecutive year.
“The Drive DMACK Fiesta Trophy provides the perfect platform for us to demonstrate the high performance capabilities of our products at the pinnacle of motor sport.
“Our affiliation with the championship gives us an ideal opportunity to raise awareness of our products and to grow the brand in international markets, which is an area where we are seeing both success and substantial growth.”
The Trophy has attracted registrations from drivers spanning all corners of the globe as they bid to contest the one-make series.
In addition to a host of European crews, organisers M-Sport and DMACK have received entries from Peru, Chile, New Zealand, South Africa and USA – ensuring the championship will once again be a truly worldwide interest.
The overwhelming response demonstrates the popularity of the well-proven format and its affordable platform, which helps career-focused drivers step up to competition in the FIA World Rally Championship.
This year’s Trophy will be fought out over five European WRC rallies starting with Rally de Portugal in May.
Dick Cormack, DMACK motorsport director, said: “The geographical spread is hugely encouraging. Not only do we have a competitive and affordable platform for competitors around the world, but it ensures global brand exposure for our partners.
“We are delighted to have Morris Lubricants on board. Their products are of an extremely high standard and we know that we can rely on them to perform in the Ford Fiesta R2 race cars.”
This year Shrewsbury-based Morris Lubricants is also sponsoring British truck racing ace Dave Jenkins, who is gunning for glory in the British Truck Racing Association Championship.
