Ducks will be the order of the day when cricket fans aim to get their hands on tickets for the 3rd Investec Ashes Match thanks to a leading builders merchant this week – all in the name of charity.
Cricket supporters heading to the Birmingham Bears’ NatWest T20 Blast match with Lancashire Lightning at Edgbaston on Friday will be able to take part in the Selco Golden Duck Challenge – a special hook-a-duck competition with 20 pairs of tickets for day four of the 3rd Investec Test Match at Edgbaston between England and Australia up for grabs.
The activity is the brainchild of Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s official partner Selco Builders Warehouse, who are the official shirt sponsor of the club’s NatWest T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup shirts.
Selco has raised more than £200,000 for its nominated charity Macmillan Cancer Support over the last three years and will be continuing the fundraising push at Edgbaston on Friday.
People attending Friday’s match will be given the chance to hook-a-duck for charity – donating £3 for one duck or £10 for four with all proceeds going to Macmillan.
Anyone who hooks a duck with a gold label on the base will win a pair of tickets for the fourth day of the Investec Ashes Test Match at Edgbaston on Saturday August 1.
Dougie Brown, Birmingham Bears and Warwickshire CCC Director of Cricket, said: “We’re expecting our biggest crowd of the season at Edgbaston for Friday’s NatWest T20 Blast match against Lancashire Lightning and I am sure that plenty of supporters will try their luck in the Selco Golden Duck Challenge.
“The 3rd Investec Test Match is a huge sporting event and England have a great record playing here at Edgbaston. Hopefully the competition winners will witness another famous England victory.”

As well as the hook-a-duck activity, bucket collections will be held around the ground during the match.
