A Wrexham business has strengthened its management team with the appointment of a new motoring and customer service expert.
Howard Rowlands has taken up the role of service manager at Volkswagen Van Centre Wrexham, bringing with him more than 19 years’ of customer service experience.
The 44-year-old has dedicated the past 12 years to the motor trade, but has worked in the servicing sector all his working life. From leaving school Howard embarked on a career with Royal Mail. During his 14-year service he worked his way up the career ladder, specialising in customer facing roles.
A motorbike fanatic, Howard chose to combine his hobby with his profession and entered the automotive industry. Starting as a service advisor for a leading motor group, Howard was quickly promoted to more senior roles, troubleshooting servicing and warranty issues across the Midlands before successfully transforming the servicing division for a Shropshire-based commercial vehicle business.
Speaking of his appointment, Howard said: “I am enjoying the challenge of taking the Wrexham team to new successes. I will be reviewing our existing practices. I understand how vital it is for a business to keep their van on the road so I am determined to provide a service that recognises this.
“As part of my focus I will be looking at ways in which we can develop our operations with the intention of expanding the team in 2016.”
Alan Austin, head of business at Volkswagen Van Centre Wrexham, is delighted with Howard’s appointment. He said: “Howard has spent his entire career in the service sector and fully understands both customers’ and our own business’s needs. His expertise is a valuable addition to the team.”
