Chief’s drive and enthusiasm for brand sees Xpression Events Solutions Ltd turn to MAN for event.
A specialist event support and logistics firm has looked to MAN TopUsed to meet its needs supporting logistics for the Formula One testing in Barcelona next month.
Managing director Jonathan Hill approached MAN’s UK boss Simon Elliott for help sourcing a vehicle after dealing with him directly on another purchase and being impressed with his prompt response and enthusiasm for the brand.
He said: “The nature of our business and the clients we work with means we have to be careful about the companies we buy from.
“When I needed a tractor unit it was Simon Elliott himself who responded for MAN, calling me one Saturday afternoon and telling me what was available.
“I was really impressed that he had taken the trouble to contact me himself and that he was calling me on a Saturday too. That enthusiasm helped influence my decision, and when we needed the second vehicle I had no qualms but to return to MAN.”
Initially Xpression Events, based in north Oxfordshire, was looking for a loan vehicle to transport its specialist hospitality unit that is being used by the caterers of a leading Formula One team. During his communications with MAN Jonathan was so impressed with the MAN TopUsed TGX 26.480 offered that he decided to buy it.
Jonathan added: “Our pedigree is Formula One, so standards are high. We know about image and things working correctly at all times and are happy with MAN.
“We are travelling by ferry to Santander and then to Barcelona before returning through France and need everything to run smoothly.
“This is a high-profile, prestigious event for valued customers and we needed a vehicle that looked the part and was reliable.
“Because of the nature of our work economy and R&M packages were not really a factor in the decision making process. We needed something that would fit in on the parque and look stunning.
“The MAN TopUsed team has pulled out all the stops and have found us a Euro 6, TGX 26.480 6×2/2 with an XLX cab. It fits our needs perfectly, and I am already looking forward to taking it on the road trip.”
MAN TopUsed specialist Lewis Monk, who sourced the vehicle, said: “We knew a MAN TopUsed Euro 6 would fit the bill perfectly for Xpression Events, but they are such a popular choice it was quite a task to secure one from the stock.
“The TGX is registered on a ’14 plate and has 138kms on the clock. It has a D2676LF25 engine, boasting 480 bhp.
“In addition, the vehicle has undergone the full MAN TopUsed inspection and warranty process and we have also arranged for it to be given a makeover befitting something that will be parked at the F1 parque.
“It is going to be wrapped with a design featuring the chequer flag and will have spotlights, sun visor, light bar and chrome hub caps. It will certainly look the part.
“I am delighted that having seen the vehicle spec Jonathan has asked me to quote for its purchase and has accepted the deal and that MAN TopUsed has met all his requirements.”
