Development proves a catch with Pokemon Go fans

Players of the latest Pokemon Go app have been flocking to a Wiltshire housing development after the site became an unlikely hotspot for Pokemon characters.

Persimmon Homes’ Abbey Green site in Boscombe Road, Amesbury has seen fans of the hit game make their way to the showhome after ‘Poke-addicts’ discovered it was a hotbed for Pokemon.

Pokemon Go is an augmented reality game played via smartphones. It is based on the Nintendo classic game of the 1990s and downloads of the app is now into the millions.

It uses a mobile’s GPS to encourage monster-hunters to walk around the real world collecting characters which are then trained to fight each other. They can spring up anywhere from parklands, urban streets and even in homes

As a result visitors to Abbey Green have reported a number of ‘sightings’ of the much sought-after and most famous Pokemon, Pikachu.

Pauline Fletcher, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes Wessex, said: “We’ve already had great interest in our showhome at Abbey Green, but it appears there’s also another incentive to visit for Pokemon Go players.

“Unusually a few customers have mentioned to us while they’ve been looking around that they’ve had alerts on their phone to quite a few Pokemon close by.

“I’ve not got the game myself but we’re told Pikachus like to frequent around our showhome – perhaps they have great style.

“Whether hunting Pokemon or a new home we would encourage you to visit our marketing suite as we have something for everyone.”

Abbey Green has a selection of 1 bedroom apartments and 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes. Prices start at £209,995 with the development between 11am and 6pm every day.
