New supply chain solutions firm Halo is looking to draw on expertise and a prime location at DP World London Gateway to break with tradition and service trade routes from the Southern and Northern hemispheres.
The Luton-based firm is looking forward to the completion and fit out of its multi-million-pound site after securing a ground-breaking deal with DP World London Gateway at the deepwater port.
Halo managing director, Gavin Knight, said: “We are anticipating a 32-week build for the unit including specialist bespoke chill and Frozen fit out.
“There will be nine chambers at our site and we will be capable of handling produce from chill to -25C. Halo is filling the missing link in the ultimate supply chain by being the fastest and leanest in the sector.
“Our position at DP World London Gateway is a game changer and not only for the Southern Hemisphere volumes that will benefit from massive inbound cost savings. There are currently 22 scheduled Southern hemisphere routes in service, but we want to also attract Northern Hemisphere volumes regardless of the point of entry to the UK and are confident that we will be the leanest and fastest operator in terms of redistribution across the UK.
We really have set out to raise the bar on produce handling and the range of services available. We can offer from as simple as a full pallet or case pick to a sophisticated added value service and ripening all with quality, technical and food safety management. All will be overlaid with a transparent reporting system allowing our customers to have real time accurate information.
“DP London Gateway is perfectly positioned close to the M25 and has unrivalled access to the rest of the UK and we are confident that this will mean we are able to pass on tangible savings to customers and also reduce demurrage by offering a rapid turnaround.
