The future is looking bright for pupils at a Suffolk pre-school thanks to the completion of a new Lavenham early years centre which has been built specifically to create a positive learning environment.
The building, which primarily offers pre-school education for two to five-year olds, was constructed by Northamptonshire-based Scotts of Thrapston, specialists in the design, manufacture and installation of creative buildings, which are designed specifically for learning, living and leisure.
The carbon efficient timber-framed building has the capacity for 48 pupils and includes a bright and spacious purpose-built play space, staff room, office space, toilets and a separate ‘quiet room’ to support children with special education needs. A large outdoor play area has also been created using natural resources to enhance the children’s learning and development.
Richard Jarvis, Director for the buildings and joinery division at Scotts of Thrapston, said: “The Early Years Centre had very specific design features that were essential for the building, including high vaulted ceilings. Sustainability and appearance were also important with a more natural aesthetic, externally and internally, being of paramount importance.
“We offer a complete ‘turnkey’ service from concept to completion which means we designed, engineered, manufactured and installed the building, with the handover taking place seven months after the order was placed, including a 21-week build programme.
“The new pre-school provides the ideal space in which young children can thrive and achieve their full potential.”
Katherine Eves, pre-school manager, said: “We wanted to create a building that was an alternative to a traditional build and are absolutely delighted with the finished product.
“We were working to a tight time constraint, and Scotts were very adaptable and professional in fulfilling all our needs. We now have a very light, airy and happy place for the children which can only have a positive impact on their learning experience.
“Huge thanks also to everyone in the local community who has supported us with this project.”
