Here at 8848 we’re often busy writing exciting news stories on behalf of our clients. Here is a recent article written on behalf of CSG celebrating their decade of growth in Teesside.
The UK’s largest independent waste management company is celebrating a decade of growth in Teesside – which last year delivered £1 million of profit for the first time.
CSG, which operates three facilities across Middlesbrough, has invested more than £3.5 million in its sites, securing skilled jobs for the region and ensuring the business is poised to support new industries in Teesside.
Regional business manager Craig Dufferwiel said: “As part of a national network of waste treatment facilities, CSG are uniquely placed to respond to the changing industrial environment of Teesside, with the capacity and capability to collect, process, recover and recycle a huge range of waste streams.
“This expertise and flexibility, enabling us to offer an agile and responsive service to customers, resulted in our most successful year to date in 2020, delivering a profit of £1 million from our Middlesbrough businesses.
“CSG’s strategic acquisitions of our sites at Wilton International, Bolckow Industrial Estate and the Recyc-Oil facility at Skippers Lane Industrial Estate, have enabled us to grow from a handful of staff with one truck to now supporting some 40 jobs, with recruitment ongoing, and running 14 specialist waste collection vehicles.
“A significant programme of investment at our sites has seen us invest in a centrifuge system to process oily sludge and introduce a new treatment for the processing of soluble oil.
“Along with a newly-created hazardous waste transfer station, replacement vehicles and an improved transport yard, this investment protects existing jobs and provides CSG with the foundations for future growth in the region.”
Across the Teesside sites – and its Erimus Star bilge barge operating on the River Tees – CSG offers a one-stop-shop for the handling of oily and hazardous waste, ensuring vital resources are recovered as part of the circular economy and reassuring customers that their waste is processed safely and to the highest environmental standards.
The company receives, treats and processes industrial by-products as part of its aim to minimise the amount of waste going to landfill and sees the expansion of Teesside Freeport as an opportunity to create more sustainable jobs for local people.
Craig added: “We are very proud to support industrial growth and employment in the North East, and our ongoing investment in both the physical infrastructure in Teesside and in the recruitment, training and development of local people underlines our long-term commitment to the region.”
CSG, which operates from 27 sites across the UK, is one of the largest privately-owned industrial and domestic environmental waste management groups in Britain. The company employs more than 500 people nationally, supporting a national network of waste treatment and recovery centres. For more information, visit: www.csg.co.uk
