If you are not familiar with safer internet day, perhaps you should be.
It has become a worldwide event, coordinated in the UK by the Safer Internet Centre.
This day is now celebrated in more than 150 countries across the world.
The event happens every year on a Tuesday, in mid-February. This year it will be on February 8th.
It aims to promote the safe, positive and responsible use of internet technologies, especially among children and young people.
This year’s theme for safer internet day is All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online and it focuses on online gaming, chat functions, streaming and of course, video. It aims to celebrate the role that young people have in creating a safer internet regardless of how they choose to use it, be it creating content or simply chatting with family and friends.
The safer internet day is also looking to inspire a nationwide discussion about how people can use technology in a more respectful, critical and creative way.
