A Liverpool business has appointed a new director to strengthen its services across the region.
David Cowan, the former head at Volkswagen Van Centre Liverpool, has stepped up to the role of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle brand director for the Swansway Group, which owns the Evans Road business.
The appointment comes after the success of the award-winning Liverpool site, which opened in 2011. Since its launch, David has been instrumental in the business receiving an impressive 14 awards from the brand for its service and performance which has led to the site becoming Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles most successful site.
The role of brand director is a new strategic post that will help drive business improvements across the Group, which currently has van centres in Preston, Wrexham and Birmingham and employs 720 people with an annual turnover of £420 million, across the entire Group.
With 22 years of automotive experience, David joined the Group in 2003 as the head of business at Wrexham. He subsequently moved to the Group’s flagship Liverpool site in 2010 where he played a central role in the construction of the new £2 million premises.
Speaking of his new role, David said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle brand director at the Swansway Group and look forward to driving strategies throughout the group that will improve efficiency, drive growth and ultimately lead to improved customer service levels across the group.
“Each of the van centres is performing well in both sales and service and I intend to bring together the successes of individual sites to help strengthen the Group’s profile, enabling us to expand the business in the future.”
