Saddle sore but still smiling, two intrepid fundraisers from one of the UK’s largest set of chambers successfully completed their London to Amsterdam cycle challenge last weekend.
Tony McDaid, Practice Director at No5 Chambers and Martin Hulbert, Senior Personal Injury Practice Manager – dubbed Little & Large – pedalled their way through the three day, 282km bike ride to raise money for the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA).
Inspired by the likes of Bradley Wiggins and Sir Chris Hoy, the larger than life duo have already raised an incredible £5,800 for the SIA which is the leading charity for spinal cord injured people offering specialist treatment, care, rehabilitation and support.
No5’s Personal Injury Group sponsored the pair’s entrance fees and travel costs and Martin’s specialised Elite Sirrus bicycle was sponsored by Outspire.
Martin said: “The cycling was just as challenging as we had imagined, but the support and encouragement we received was positively inspiring.
“We had a great team around us, and travelled through some stunning scenery – with the added bonus for us that Holland is pretty flat!”
Tony and Martin’s justgiving page is still live at https://www.justgiving.com/littleandlarge2015 and they have been overwhelmed by the donations made by friends, family and colleagues.
Tony said: “The response from everyone has been truly staggering and we can’t thank them enough for their kind and generous donations.
“The work done by the SIA is incredible, and it relies entirely on donations to carry out its vision of delivering services that support spinal cord injured people and their family as they rebuild their lives after paralysis. Every penny counts, no matter how big or small: £10 could help ensure a SCI person get the appropriate care package while £200 could help provide support to a hospital for a day.”
