A vehicle technician from Wrexham is celebrating reaching the top in his profession.
Barry Sedgewick, from Volkswagen Van Centre Wrexham, has recently gained, the highly acclaimed, master technician status after working his way through the Volkswagen Academy training programme in just six months.
The intensive training course culminated in a day of practical examinations which saw him complete his qualification.
The 44-year-old joined Volkswagen Van Centre Wrexham eight months ago bringing with more than 25 years of automotive experience.
Having dedicated his entire career to aftersales Barry has worked for a number of high profile franchises. He has spent the last 15 years with the Volkswagen passenger car brand and has now transferred his expertise to the commercial vehicle sector.
Commenting on passing his course, Barry said: “I’m delighted to have gained this qualification.
“My interest in motor mechanics has never wavered and I like to take on new challenges so I have really enjoyed developing my commercial vehicle knowledge.
“It was a tough course but I feel I have not only gained a skill but have a much greater understanding of the business both from a technician’s and customers’ point of view.”
Alan Austin, head of business at Volkswagen Van Centre Wrexham, said: “Master technicians are an elite band of Volkswagen’s most talented and experienced technicians.
“Their knowledge is second-to-none and having Barry as part of our technical team is great news for customers and our business.”
He added: “Right from the start, Barry has shown great enthusiasm and he is proving to be a real asset to the team bringing with him a wealth of experience. He made a smooth transition from cars to vans and we are delighted that he confidently excelled to master technician.”
