Professional painters and decorators have been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase their talents at one of the UK’s most iconic venues.
Connect PR client and leading paint manufacturer Johnstone’s Trade is giving tradesmen the chance to paint the lines at Wembley ahead of one of English football’s biggest domestic finals.
The lucky winner will join Wembley groundstaff on the hallowed turf at the national stadium on Saturday April 2, the eve of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final between Barnsley and Oxford United.
The winner will then join the Wembley team painting the lines on a pitch which has been graced by all of the world’s greatest footballers, past and present.
The competition has been organised in conjunction with the anniversary of 10 years sponsorship of the Football League Trophy by Johnstone’s.
Richard Mazurkiewicz, marketing manager of Johnstone’s Trade, said: “This is a unique opportunity and something which has never been done at Wembley before, let alone so close to a major final on the English football calendar.
“It will provide the successful painter and decorator with a day they will never forget and probably the highlight of their professional career.
“They will forever have bragging rights amongst their family, friends and colleagues when asked to describe their best ever painting job.”
The winner will receive accommodation over the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final weekend, as well as two tickets to the match on Sunday, April 3.
Alan Ferguson, Head of Grounds and Estates at Wembley, said: “Marking out the lines on the pitch is one of the key jobs of any big final weekend at Wembley but we are happy to offer it to a professional painter and decorator who has experience of the skills and techniques involved.
“Our ground staff will be on hand to offer advice to the winner and there is no doubt it will be an unforgettable experience.”
