A Derby business is gearing up for its first motorsport sponsorship.
Volkswagen Van Centre Derby is proudly supporting Dukeries Motor Clubs, Imperial Commercial Volkswagen Donington Rally, taking place on Sunday 6th March at Donington Park.
The event is expected to attract thousands of spectators following on from the success of last year’s Rainworth Skoda Dukeries Rally, held at the race circuit.
David May, head of business at Volkswagen Van Centre Derby, said: “We are delighted to working with the Dukeries Motor Club and Donington Park motor racing circuit.
“This is the first time we have supported such an event and, being in the motor trade, all my team are very keen to experience the event.
“In addition, we will be displaying the complete range of Volkswagen commercial vehicles in the Paddock suite, which will be open to the public.”
The rally will feature eight special stages and is expected to generate a lot of interest.
Donington Park’s managing director Christopher Tate, said: “We are delighted to welcome Imperial Commercials van centre to the rally scene.”
“After such a positive reaction from drivers, officials and spectators to last year’s rally we are hoping to replicate the enthusiasm and build on its success.
“The rally will see the circuit transformed into a giant special stage, with tyre chicanes, off road sections and even running the ‘wrong way’ around the track. It’s a unique event to start the Donington season, with plenty of handbrake turns, tyre squealing and power slides thrown in too.”
