Armed Forces personnel are being offered significant discounts at a new housing development in Plymouth.
Leading housebuilder Persimmon Homes is acknowledging the city’s military background by giving servicemen and women the chance to save thousands of pounds when they buy a new build home at Palmerston Heights in William Prance Road, Derriford.
For every £25,000 spent, Persimmon is offering a discount of £500 to members of the Forces.
On a house priced at £225,000 that would mean a saving of £4,500.
Persimmon has also agreed to supply carpets and vinyl flooring free of charge.
Jane Cartwright, field sales manager at Persimmon Homes Cornwall, said the company was proud to support the Armed Forces as there is an Army Reserve Centre a third of a mile away in Brest Road, as well as The Royal Citadel and Devonport Naval Base nearby.
Jane said: “Plymouth is a city with a long and proud military history. The Army has long been a part of life in Plymouth and Devonport has been supporting the Royal Navy since 1691.
“We wanted to acknowledge this heritage and to give something back to the heroes of the city by offering this discount at our Palmerston Heights development.
“Significant savings are available and we hope it makes a different to the purchasers and their families.
“This offer is open to all serving members of the Armed Forces. Our on-site team would be delighted to show people the range of properties available.”
A second phase of construction is now underway at Palmerston Heights, where a total of 132 properties are being built.
The development is in an excellent city location and there is something for everyone, from first-time buyers to growing families and professionals.
A four-bedroom, three-storey showhome is now open featuring a dining/family room, a kitchen/breakfast room, a large living room and an ensuite master bedroom.
