A Redditch sales executive has received a national Unsung Hero award after delivering exceptional customer service.
Richard Goode, who works for Redditch Volkswagen, is just one of five winners who has been recognised by Volkswagen UK for going the extra mile for customers.
The 44-year-old, who joined the Volkswagen site in 2010, was acknowledged for not only going the extra mile for customers but quite literally driving up to 780 miles in a week, to deliver customers’ cars.
The new service award, organised by Volkswagen UK, is aimed at recognising individuals from the 7,000 people in its retailer network that go over and above the call of duty for customers as part of their normal day-to-day job.
Redditch Volkswagen’s sales manager, Bill Alexander, who nominated Richard, said: “On a number of occasions Richard has personally delivered cars to customers, but these are not local addresses.
“In one particular week he drove to Manchester, Southampton and Reading, all in his own time as he wanted to exceed customers expectations, what more could a customer ask for. These selfless acts should be recognised.”
Individuals were nominated by their colleagues. The winners were decided by a group of impartial Volkswagen customers, based on the merit of each testimonial.
Speaking of his award, Richard, said: “This is really quite embarrassing as I feel what I do is part of my job. I believe in providing the best possible service and as some of our customers live a good distance away I felt the quickest and most efficient service would be to take the cars to them.
“The journeys may be long but my wife and son join me so we combine the delivery with a visit to the area, which gives us quality time as a family.”
