A national waste management company has set out ambitious growth plans for the next five years.
CSG, which has its headquarters in Fareham, Hampshire, aims to draw on its expertise in innovative waste treatment processes and customer retention to increase profitability by 25 per cent.
The company is one of the largest privately-owned industrial and domestic environmental waste management groups in Britain, operating from 27 sites across the UK.
Speaking at the company’s AGM, CSG managing director Neil Richards said: “Turnover in 2017 exceeded £71 million but – like with the materials we reprocess and recycle – we know there are untapped opportunities to be developed and have robust plans for organic growth.
“There has never been a more exciting time to work in this industry, with a wider public awareness of environmental issues and increased focus on managing resources responsibly and a greater appetite for new technology.
“CSG fosters a culture of innovation and customer service that, together, make us perfectly placed to take advantage of the opportunities in this sector, supporting both industrial and domestic customers. Truly no job is too big or too small.
“We have a number of new physical and chemical processes in development that will allow us to accept more diverse waste streams in our treatment facilities, as well as products designed and manufactured by our own teams that will ensure we can deliver an even better service to our customers.
“A good example of this is the new process developed by our experts that helps to transform a range of industrial waste streams into a material suitable for use in Energy from Waste plants, meaning we are able to help customers divert even more of their waste from landfill.
“Throughout its 84-year history, the company has seen investment in people and technology as the key to success. The company recently invested more than £1,000,000 in site improvements at its facilities in Manchester and Middlesbrough, including the installation of a fully integrated oil treatment system and a new press which extracts more water from aqueous waste streams, reducing the overall amount of solid matter sent to landfill. This will reduce the environmental impact of the wastes treated at the facility.
CSG was founded as a one-man sewage collection business in rural Hampshire more than 80 years ago and now employs a national workforce of nearly 500 people.
