An Exeter business has welcomed the arrival of two new female staff in response to customer feedback.
Research carried out by Mann Egerton Volkswagen found that women influenced 64 per cent of its car purchases, which led to the retailer’s recent appointments.
Both roles are in addition to current staffing levels and have been created specifically in relation to the research findings.
Michelle Field, from Topsham and Bev Preston, from Cowley are the new customer liaison manager and showroom host, respectively.
Mann Egerton Volkswagen brand manager, Paul Beazley, explained the recent appointments.
He said: “We pride ourselves on our commitment to our customers and we believe it is important to listen to their feedback and implement changes where necessary to ensure that customer expectations are fulfilled.
“These appointments highlight efforts made by Mann Egerton to support the new Equality Act which aims to redress the balance of men and women in the workplace.
“In an industry that is perceived to be male-dominated we’re encouraging more women to join; proving it’s a positive and rewarding career move.”
The new appointments meet the changing need of Mann Egerton’s customers and follow an intensive recruitment drive at the Trusham Road retailer.
Paul added: “Many of our recent appointments are young, local people, ensuring the business helps the local economy by providing a platform for people to develop careers in their home town.”
