TWENTY-year-old Tom Prideaux had a hard act to follow when he set out on his technician apprenticeship with Bolton Volkswagen retailer Smith Knight Fay.
For his father, Mark, was already a master technician at the same company.
But now, three years on, Tom has graduated with flying colours making dad proud.
Tom, from Bolton, had to undergo a series of theory and practical examinations as well as assessments through the Volkswagen Training Academy to achieve his new status.
He is now focusing on putting his training to good use and intends to continue to progress his qualifications.
Speaking of his success Tom said: “It’s been three years of hard work but with dad already a master technician I was determined to do well.
“Now I have graduated I intend to carry on with my training so one day I can reach the same level as dad. And if I need any advice I know where to go.
“I really am very grateful to Smith Knight Fay Volkswagen for the support they have given me every step of the way.”
Over £40,000 has been invested by Smith Knight Fay Volkswagen into Tom’s training to enable him to become an official Volkswagen technician.
Mike Lowe, after sales manager at Smith Knight Fay Volkswagen, said: “It costs a lot of money to train an apprentice but Tom has done us proud.
“He is clearly following in his father’s footsteps.”
