Forty-six teams came together in their bid to win legal firm Higgs & Sons’ annual charity quiz, which raises thousands of pounds each year for good causes.
This year’s chosen charity was the Paul Ackrill Fund, which helps young people under the age of 30 who are diagnosed with cancer.
Raising a grand total of £3,436, the quiz took place at The Venue in Dudley and was attended by Higgs’ clients and fellow professionals from across the Midlands.
The Paul Ackrill Fund is now in its 11th year. It issues grants to help with basic living expenses, travel, heating and food to young people who are undergoing treatment for cancer. The fund has given out over £115,000 in previous years and already this year has helped 40 young people. All money goes directly to the patients, with no administration costs taken by the charity.
Gill Ackrill from the charity said of the event: “We are extremely grateful to the 46 teams of local businesses and professionals who took the time to attend and test their knowledge at this thoroughly enjoyable and successful event.
“It will ensure our charity will continue through 2013, with all money raised going directly to young cancer patients.”
