Persimmon South Coast has revealed the first glimpse of new facilities to be provided at its major new homes development in Andover.
Picket Twenty is a long-term development that will, eventually, provide around 1,200 new homes alongside substantial leisure facilities with an adjacent urban park.
As part of the civic infrastructure, Persimmon will be building a sports pavilion and permanent community centre, which are expected to be ready for use early in 2014.
Rob Allen, sales director for Persimmon Homes South Coast, said: “Construction is progressing well at Picket Twenty and we are delighted that the rate of progress is such that the local amenities are now scheduled.
“We have supplied a temporary building, where community development worker Sharon Goodridge has been offering information, supporting clubs and groups and ensuring transport plans meet local needs.
“The permanent community centre will provide a real focal point for local people and give Sharon an established base for neighbourhood activities.
“The leisure and recreation amenities planned for Picket Twenty are a key factor in what makes this development special. Alongside the urban park and woodland areas, there will be a multi-use games area, football pitches, a cricket pitch, tennis courts and play spaces.
“The new sports pavilion, with changing rooms, will enable residents to make full use of the leisure facilities provided, helping to ensure a healthy environment for all.”
Picket Twenty will also boast a new school and day nursery and there is land allocated for a health centre, shops and a pub.
Properties available at the site range from a one bedroom coach house for just £124,950 to two and three bedroom family homes.
Persimmon Homes South Coast completed more than 500 new homes in 2012, across Hampshire, Wiltshire, West Sussex and Dorset.
