Aquila apprentice celebrates double award

An apprentice at leading commercial vehicle dealership group Aquila is celebrating after winning two prestigious awards at MAN Truck & Bus’s annual ceremony.

Greg Middlecote (19) from Ross on Wye was awarded Apprentice of the Year and Service Technician of the Year at a special luncheon held at the home of Aston Villa Football Club, Villa Park.

Greg is in his third year of MAN Truck & Bus’s highly regarded apprenticeship programme and works at Aquila’s Worcester dealership in Blackpole Trading Estate. Greg’s father, Shaun Middlecote is a former apprentice and is now the depot manager at Aquila’s Worcester dealership.

Speaking of his awards, Greg said: “The event was fantastic. I was up against some stiff competition, so it’s brilliant to be recognised above all the other apprentices in my year group for my work. My aim now is to continue to work hard and progress my career with Aquila.”

MAN Truck & Bus is one of Europe’s largest truck and bus manufacturers and as such, its customer support team within the network plays a vital role in maintaining the company’s 60,000 plus UK vehicles.

Greg’s father Shaun is extremely proud of his son. He said: “I’ve seen Greg work really hard over the years, so these awards really justify the effort he puts in.”

Gary Mullaney is the managing director of Aquila Group. He said: “We take the training of our apprentices extremely seriously. They are the future of our business and the whole team is proud of Greg’s achievements.”

Aquila is one of the UK’s leading commercial vehicle dealership groups, supplying, maintaining and repairing fleets of trucks, coaches and specialist vehicles for over 400 customers, from major household names to small contractors. The group is a successful main dealer for MAN Truck and Bus, Iveco, Caterpillar, Isuzu and Neoplan.
