A Southport car retailer helped to make over £7,000 for the region’s hospice.
Corkills Volkswagen sponsored the golf tournament, which is organised to raise money for the Queenscourt Hospice, an organisation that supports people of Southport, Formby and West Lancashire with life limiting illnesses.
The fundraising day, held each year at Southport OId Links Golf Course has become a renowned annual event, and with the help of Corkills this year produced a fantastic total for the Hospice.
One of the event organisers, Patrica Rimmer, said: “Naturally we are delighted with the money raised, yet again it proves that local golfers are more than willing to support such a worthy cause.
“Sponsorships are crucial to the day’s success so we were delighted to have the backing of Corkills Volkswagen.”
Queenscourt Hospice fundraiser, Brian Halliwell, said: “We are delighted with the money raised and would like to thank everyone at Southport Old Links golf club, the organisers, sponsors and everyone who took part in the day. All donations are vital to ensure our on-going services and patient care so we are delighted that this is such a successful annual event.
“The people we care for are ordinary people dealing with extraordinarily difficult circumstances. However, with generous sponsorship like this we can continue to support those that need us and their families.”
Jacqui Kaye, brand manager at Corkills Volkswagen, said: “This is the first time we have been involved in the tournament and were delighted to be part of such an enjoyable and worthy event.”
