Demolition work starts to clear way for new homes

Demolition work has begun on the site of a disused driving range in Gloucester as a leading house builder brings much-needed and highly sought after housing to the area.

Persimmon Homes Severn Valley is building 58 homes at The Oaks, in Matson Lane, with a stylish range of two, three and four-bedroom homes.

Work is well under way to clear the site ready for building to start on the infrastructure. A new access road is due to be built in January while the new homes are likely to go on sale in February or March.

Nicola Reed, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said: “This latest development is located to the south east of Gloucester city centre in a picturesque location overlooking fields. In keeping with its surroundings we will also plant two oak trees on the development later this month.

“It will be great for families as wonderful facilities are all within walking distance but it also has great access for commuters, with good bus and rail links while the M5 motorway network is only a five minute drive away.

“We hope that by next June we will have had our first completion and by next summer The Oaks will have the beginnings of a lovely, thriving community.”

The Oaks is due to be officially launched in December at the adjacent four star Hallmark Hotel, which is also situated in Matson Lane.

Nicola said: “We are planning a great launch for this development. Visitors will be able to go along to this superb hotel and spa to find out more about what The Oaks has to offer. Buyers will also be able to reserve a plot off-plan.”

Sales advisors will be on hand during the launch to advise people on the latest schemes that are available to help them buy their dream home, such as part exchange.

Nicola explained: ““We believe part exchange can really help people move up the housing ladder and buy their perfect home.

“If you are eligible for part exchange, we arrange at least two valuations, agree a market price and buy your existing property. We aim to take the stress out of moving as there are no hidden marketing costs and no chains to break.”
