A local autistic boy fascinated with air balloons had the day of his life after taking flight in the iconic Goodyear Blimp.
James Rees, 7, from Chippenham, contacted the company in the hope of watching the iconic airship take-off up close but jumped at the chance to take a flight when Goodyear saw how fascinated he was.
James, along with his family, had a fantastic day and his mother Emily says it will be a day James will never forget.
She said: “James has not stopped drawing Blimps and can now even write Goodyear.
“Everybody made us feel very welcome and the pilot was very informative and friendly, telling James everything he wished to know.
“James now sleeps with his flight certificate and photos of the day are all over his bedroom wall. He now tells me I need to have Goodyear tyres.”
The Goodyear Blimp is currently touring Europe as part of its nine month Safety Tour to promote road safety. It will return to the UK again in October.
