A trade counter sales advisor from Middleton is celebrating after winning £1,000 worth of holiday vouchers from a Leeds building materials supplier.
Steve Doherty, who works at Selco Builders Warehouse Leeds branch on Elland Road Industrial Park, is planning a trip abroad thanks to the grand windfall in the company’s Selco Predictor competition.
Open to customers and colleagues, Selco launched the Selco Predictor in January in conjunction with talkSPORT, giving participants the chance to become an instant millionaire by correctly predicting the results of the ten Barclays Premier League weekend fixtures.
Anyone can sign up to the Predictor, but to add a further element of competition Selco has established branch-specific mini-leagues allowing customers and colleagues the chance to compete with each other.
Steve is the second of the monthly winners, having scored the highest number of points in February within any of the Selco leagues across the UK. Further prizes will be awarded each month with an instant £1 million available to anyone correctly predicting all ten scores in any given week.
Trade counter assistant, Steve, has been with Selco since the branch opened six years ago and said his colleagues are treating him well in the hope he will take them away with him.
“Quite a few of us at the branch have joined the Selco Predictor league and we have banter within the branch each week after the results are in. I try to look at each team’s form and their position in the league each week before entering my predictions so I can have an educated guess at the scores, and this seems to have paid off.
“My colleagues are dropping hints about booking a holiday together, but I know what’s good for me so I will be splashing out on a romantic trip somewhere sunny and warm with my girlfriend.”
