An Ellesmere schoolboy was the guest of honour at a new housing development this week, after winning a competition to name the site.
Waterside View is an exclusive development of just 64 three and four bedroom properties from leading housebuilder Persimmon Homes located just off Canal Way in Ellesmere.
The name was chosen by Ellesmere Primary School pupil James Richardson, aged 10, who won himself £50 of Argos vouchers and £250 of vouchers for the school.
James had his first visit to the development this week, accompanied by Persimmon sales advisor Katie Evans and deputy head teacher Carl Rogers, where he was able to see for himself the Waterside View signage.
Ellesmere Primary School submitted dozens of entries in the competition to name the development, but Stephen Cleveley, Persimmon Homes West Midlands sales director, said Waterside View stood out from all the others.
He said: “We really liked the name Waterside View as we felt it reflected the canal side location of the development, as well as epitomising the beautiful, rural scenery that can be found in the area.
“We are most grateful to the school for running the competition, and to James for coming up with the perfect name. We hope the vouchers were put to good use!”
Deputy Head Carl Rogers, said: “James really enjoyed the photo shoot, and seeing his chosen name ‘coming soon’ to Ellesmere.
“He is saving his vouchers so that he can buy an ipod while the school spent its vouchers on indoor games and activities equipment for play times.”
Waterside View is a small, select development of detached and semi-detached homes in the pretty market town of Ellesmere. The name originates from the picturesque mere that acts as a focal point for the town, and is one of the largest natural meres in England outside of the Lake District.
Properties start at £154,950 for a three bed semi.
